An eight story, concrete frame office building was retrofitted with four diagonal steel braces. The braces were installed as orthogonal pairs, and each pair was attached at their tops to a massive, new concrete column extending the full height of the building. A new atrium/skylight of about 2400 square feet in plan was cut through six floors and the roof. In addition, two new steel framed penthouses were designed at the roof.
$9.0M construction cost.
