This quaint, single-story unreinforced brick building was seismically retrofitted to meet the requirements of the Uniform Code of Building Conservation. Changes in the existing roof framing configuration combined with a very open floor plan led to the used of an inverted pendulum system as one element in the new lateral load resisting scheme. Also, a bolted moment connection was used for this element, rather than they typical field welded connection.
$250,000 construction cost.
